The rain had returned and the weather was cool. It was a relief since the heat had been intense and was a respite to have a cooler weather. I have a young female Boerboel, I named her Lucy after the oldest human remains and since she was my first pet, I named her so. She is a fascinating breed which I so much fancied. Her strength and size are what attracted me to it and when my friend’s female Boerboel had a new litter, I did not hesitate to get myself one but I digress.
She started coughing and I noticed secretion from her nose. I was a bit concerned and since I had never had a dog, I only thought it was best to speak with my friends who owned dogs. They mostly referred me to go to the veterinary clinic since I had not even vaccinated it in the first place. Zoba, a veterinary clinic in Lagos that is situated not too far from where I lived was suggested to me by one of my friends that night.
Early the next morning I woke up, took a ride to one of the recommended clinics close to my area. On arriving at Zoba veterinary hospital, I was warmly greeted and was given a space to sit and a form to fill. The clinic was filled with smiling doctors interacting with the pets and the owners. My name was called around 5 minutes of submitting the form and I was ushered into an examining room. Firstly, I was asked how many times I had visited a veterinary clinic and I told them it was I and my dog’s first time. Lucy’s weight was taken; her vitals were observed with a stethoscope. Her temperature was taken from her behind which I found quite weird. She was also examined thorough her eyes, skin, ears, nose, feet and genitals. She seemed calm throughout the procedure.
I also mentioned the symptoms I saw earlier that made me worry and they told me it was likely to be pneumonia and I should leave Lucy behind for observation till the next morning as they needed to check her stool. It was not going to be easy leaving Lucy behind but I was sure she was in good hands.

I arrived the next day and I saw Lucy looking agile, far better than she had been earlier which made me delighted. They gave me her medication as well as my bill, it was a fair enough bill and I was also advised to come for Vaccination and they gave me a schedule which I was to adhere to.
Zoba Veterinary hospital was a beautiful experience. The doctors were patient and listened to every question I had. It was very interactive and highly informative. A pleasant experience and I would not mind going back and I do not think Lucy would mind too.
