David Heber, Director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles, it's about 1200 calories for women, and about 1500 for men. This will vary depending on your size and activity level but it's a good place to start.

Dealer diamonds. One great thing about automobile dealers is that if you need a part they will have it on hand. If not, dealer parts departments will gladly order what you want straight from the manufacturer. Just like purchasing a diamond you will pay a pretty price for a dealer ordered starter. Ouch!

The problem at hand is that who would buy a car that doesn't run? Of course you may be able to find a car enthusiast willing to pay you some money to have possession of the car and then work upon it. But the chances of this are very slim. This is where car salvage companies step in to provide you with a very beneficial service.

Reuse them. There are plenty of ways of reusing your old bricks. Before you do though, make sure you clean them well with a good brick cleaner, which are readily available in hardware and building supply stores. You can then use your clean bricks for making walkways or a great outdoor barbeque or fire pit. They can also be used to line up and beautify flower beds, or raise flower beds up and save you from straining your back. Brick chips can also be beautiful additions to your garden landscape. Placing a brick in the cistern of your toilet is a very nifty idea too! The brick takes up volume, decreasing the amount of water used to flush your toilet each time. You can save about 500 gallons of water each year per toilet with just one brick!

As one earns more there is a tendency to think that certain denominations are really just a piece of paper. I am sure nobody will throw a Rs.10 note in the dust bin. But when you go out to shop you may buy a really wasteful thing for Rs. 10. You justify the purchase thus "After all I am earning so much it is only Rs.10." [the zeros will increase according to perceived wealth]. The problem with this line of thought is that it becomes a habit and you are drained of your hard earned money and your house turns into a pull-a-part cleveland west.

A clear explanation of the problem. Do not let yourself be pressured by a technician into making a quick, uninformed decision. Also, do not let the promise of a fast service influence your decision. Extensive work can take up to three days; promising you a 24 turn-around will probably mean you will be returning sooner rather than later.

Along 20th Street, towards the salvage yard off the Bay, are a string of parked RV's. Although very close to the T-stop at 20th and 3rd Streets, it is not really visible from 3rd street, and almost no one ventures down here. On a very sunny day, I found one artist who was spray painting her project, and a neat row of parked RV's. I was not sure that anyone lived in them until I spotted a lot of plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the back of one RV.
