15The RTS and ISS were combined using trauma injury severity scoring (TRISS) methodology which generates a percentage prediction of survival.16 A surviving patient with a TRISS of 50% or less was considered an unexpected survivor. The proportion of unexpected survivors pre-2009 and post-2009 were compared. The year 2009 was defined as the cut off point MG 132 in the comparison, because the UK damage control strategy was more formalized from that year onwards.17Follow-up varied between two patient categories; Local Nationals (LN) who were discharged from Role 3 in a stable physiological state to local facilities and Coalition Forces entered their countries�� respective aeromedical evacuation chains.
