It is important that you give your plants the chance to gradually adjust to the change in temperature and conditions, or you risk shocking them. On the first day, put them out in sunlight for about an hour or so. Slowly, day after day, you can leave your plants outside for a little longer. By the time the week ends, your plants will be ready for their big move and should have no problems!

Be sure to weed your garden. Weeds and gardens do not mix; they will destroy your garden. To help with the removal, you can use white vinegar. Yes, white vinegar actually kills weeds! So, if weed pulling is tiring you out, spray a white vinegar solution all over them.

When winter comes around, save some plants by putting them in the house. You should probably save the most resistant or expensive plants. Carefully dig up the plants, using caution not to disturb the roots, then transfer into a pot.

Make sure to be weary of stink bugs whenever you garden, particularly during the fall months. Stink bugs are attracted to tomatoes, beans and most fruits. If you don't treat them, they can do a lot of damage in your garden.

Do you enjoy fresh mint, but don't like how they engulf your garden in their growth? You can stunt the growth of mint by planting it inside a container or super-sized bowl. By using a separate containment unit, you are limiting the plant's ability to spread its roots and subsequently grow like wildfire. You can even plant the entire pot so that it still looks just like another plant in your garden.

If you're going to grow peas, start them indoors before putting them in the ground outside. Seeds that are planted indoors will enjoy superior germination. Seedlings raised indoors are hardier, too; they can stand up better to diseases and insects. Once the seedlings have become hardy enough to survive, you can transplant them to your outdoor garden.

It is essential to keep your knees protected as you garden. Many people find it difficult to bend over for extended periods of time when standing up. You can get to your plants without straining your back if you kneel in your working area. You can buy a knee pad, put it on the ground and kneel on it so that you wont have to deal with knee pain.

Keep your pet out of the garden with old perfume or aftershave in the grass. Your dog will be less attracted to your garden when these scents overpower compost scents and other smells dogs like.

Tuck away some plastic grocery bags and use them to slip over your muddy boots. You will be able to go in and out without having to keep taking your shoes on and off.
