Five years ago!! I can't believe it really is been 5 years given that I've been to Candle 79 , one of the best vegan restaurants in the planet! I was so excited to take my boyfriend, Wes, there so he could knowledge it also. He is not vegan, so I was interested to see what he would feel. The principal cause Candle gets 1 star (HC doesn't let significantly less than two stars for vegan places) is the AWEFUL service (which deserves stars). We have been there for 2.5 hours due to the fact our server was awkward, rude, slow, and very inattentive. We had to get up several instances to ask for factors. The worst was when we were trying to leave we waited forever for him to come back to the table, soon after asking him for the verify we waited yet another 15 minutes, and at that point I got up and asked him for the verify (he was lollygagging in the back after I clearly asked him for the check). When we Lastly left we complained to the manager, who did absolutely absolutely nothing about it. Definitely will not be back. i went here for the very first time on a snowy evening in 2004. the atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. amongst top-notch gourmet vegan restaurants i have been to around the country (millennium, san Francisco greens, san francisco horizons, philly) candle 79 is the best one. i had the seitan piccatta, it was to die for. we had appetizers, wine, deserts and coffee and almost everything was amazing. of course it is a specific treat to go right here (we spent $160 for 2 men and women), but once every few years, it is worth it. if you are going to spend a lot of funds, this is the place to do it.
