There are many benefits from coloring that you and your child should take benefit of. When you believe of sitting your child down in front of his favorite coloring book though, what comes to mind? Are you merely trying to distract him, or do you recognize this a an important ability that will advantage him in his young life?

Subsequent time you plant your child in front of a coloring book, place some thought into what he can get out of this. Attempt demonstrating to him the various ways in which to color. Of course, there is the technique that comes most natural to him -- the scribble! But try to show him some options like up and down, side to side and circular. Work with your child as you do this. Encourage the use of smaller utensils so that you can teach him how to hold the crayon and encourage him to grow in his abilities.
