A request for copies of the records may be done at the county level, though one must also take into consideration the fact that there are some record that the law says may only be requested from the office of the official custodian of the records. The procedure for making the request would depend on the office where the request would be made. In general, a request at the local level offices are done through the mail or in person, and both methods would have their own inherent set of advantages and disadvantages that the person making the request would have to take into consideration when making the request.
