Crimon Java / Karimun Java / Karimunjava (Indonesian: Karimunjawa / Karimun Jawa) is an archipelago of 27 islands in the Java Sea, Indonesia, approximately Eighty kilometres northwest of Jepara. The islands' name means 'a stone's throw from Java' in Javanese. This archipelago have a overall land area of 78 km square. The major island is recognized as Karimun (2,700 ha), while the next-largest island is Kemujan (1,400 ha).




In 2011, the population of the island group was approximately 9,000 who lived on 5 of the islands. The people is largely Javanese, with pockets of Bugis and Madurese residents. Javanese ethnic heritage is very dominant in the islands which are the sole islands off Java where Javanese is the lingua franca.
