For most people visiting Thailand it's a must that they stay near a beach and with 1400km of coast it's easy to see why this tops most visitors lists. Another benefit to being close to the beach is the close proximity to cooling sea water - a much hua hin resorts needed refreshment in the tropical heat of Thailand.Thailand is well known for its beach resorts and for this article we have chosen to focus on Hua Hin on the North. Hua Hin is about a 4 hour drive from Bangkok and lies on the North eastern coast. It can be reached from Bangkok by coach, taxi, train or a short flight.Hua Hin is possibly the most luxurious of destinations and has been associated with Thai Royalty since the 19th century which will account for it having some of the best hotels in Thailand.

It is a fairly small (but still developing) resort and most hotels and attractions are within walking distance of each other. If you are staying in some of the more well-known hotels such as the Hilton or Marriott then you will be treated to a perfect stretch of sand to laze about on (most hotels have their own beach area).Attractions around Hua HinKaeng Krachan National ParkThis park is just over 60km north-west of Hua Hin and can be reached by bus or an arranged tour. It is Thailand's largest protected area and if you are lucky (very lucky) you may spot elephant, tiger, leopard, gibbon and the endangered woolly-necked stork.The park is also home to caves which are a good hours walk from Nongphlab village. These caves have many stalactites and stalagmites to see.It is recommended that you enlist the services of a local (English speaking) guide to take you on a tour of the park and into the caves.Khan Sam Roi Yod National ParkThis park is approx. 45km south of Hua Hin and due to the surrounding limestone and salt flats it provides a huge array of wetland habitat. It is relatively small so is easy to walk form one sight to another and gives you ample opportunity to view many of Thailand's water-birds.Khan Sam Roi Yod also has caves so you can also see an impressive display of stalactites and stalagmites. Along with the caves there is Sai Cave a petrifying waterfall which is a natural phenomenon that eventually turns anything left in it's way to stone - an eerie and impressive sight all at the same time.

All in all Hua Hin is a fantastic resort to choose if you want relaxation and pampering but with the opportunity to sample some of the local wildlife for days when you're feeling more adventurous.
