Older adults in search of drug treatment will double over the following decade to pretty much six million. Cultural elements influence drug use, and more specifically, Hispanic cultural values influence title= CEG.S111693 heroin use. This study explored Mexican-American injection drug users' adherence to regular Hispanic cultural values and their influence on cessation. Ethnographic interviews endorsed contextualized influences of values on heroin use. Cultural values functioned dichotomously, influencing both initiation and cessation.
